Efficient cleaning with resist strips
Resist stripping is a crucial process step in the production of printed circuit boards. Special photoresists, which serve as a protective layer, are completely removed here. In the process, the etched conductor tracks are exposed. Safely and completely removing the resist from the solution is necessary to ensure the high quality of process stability. At TSK Schill, this is done by means of two processes, vibrating screens and drum screens. In the DES process, the resist stripping process takes place after the PCB has been etched. In the SES process, the resist stripp process is upstream of the etching process.
- Soaking: Chemical solutions soften the resist layer.
- Dissolving: The stripping solution penetrates and breaks up the structure of the photoresist.
- Remove: Mechanical or chemical support replaces the degraded resist.
- Cleaning: Rinsing processes remove all residues.

Applying chemistry carefully
The right choice of stripping solution depends on various factors. On the one hand, the properties of the photoresist play a role, and on the other hand, the solution must be fast enough to be able to remove the resist. This requires careful selection of the appropriate chemical composition of the solution. Temperature and exposure time also influence whether the stripping process is successful. An approach that is too aggressive can attack the resist so strongly and bring it into solution prematurely that the chemistry in turn becomes contaminated and begins to foam too much. If the solution is left to act for too short, residues remain that impair the functionality of the PCB.
Complex process precisely controlled
As a complex process, resist stripping requires precise control of all parameters to achieve optimal results. Only a clean strip process guarantees a flawless surface and optimally prepares the PCB for the further steps of PCB production.
Continuously refining technologies
For TSK, the state of the art is always only the basis and starting point for making further technological advances and refining technologies. In doing so, we always keep in mind that our systems are easy to maintain and robust in order to reliably maintain production. Resource conservation and environmental friendliness, wastewater-saving circuits, emissions into the air and noise emissions are just as important to us as the production quality for which the machines were designed. We support our customers in obtaining operator approvals for the processes on site.
